Our population is ageing and increasing; we are living longer, workforce participation is falling and off-shoring of business activities is accelerating. What will Australia’s economic landscape look like in 20 years? The Productivity Commission suggests that now is a good time to start planning.

The AICC brought together four of Australia’s most experienced practitioners in the key areas of superannuation, investment, the economy and planning for the future. In this second of our major Vision Series events, Vision for our Future, we identifed the important issues that will affect our way of life. We looked for suggested actions that our leaders should consider in ensuring that Australia can age gracefully and with dignity by “Investing for a ‘Super’ Australia”.

Jeremy Cooper is Chairman, Retirement Fund of Challenger, an ASX 100 company and manager of $46billion in assets. Jeremy also chaired the ‘Cooper Review’ into the superannuation system, the recommendations of which have been substantially adopted. As the CEO who turned Colonial First State Investments into Australia’s largest investment fund manager, Chris’s current activities include directorships, managing public and private investments, and various roles assisting the NFP sector.

Hamish Douglass is Co-Founder and CEO of Magellan Financial Group. He is a member of the Australian Government’s Foreign Investment Review Board, a member of the Australian Government’s Financial Literacy Board and a member of the Forum of Young Global Leaders – World Economic Forum.
