Mr Skrzynski is the Founding Partner of Castle Harlan Australian Mezzanine Partners (CHAMP), the pioneering direct investment fund manager in Australia, responsible for investing some $5 billion in private companies across Australia and South East Asia.
CHAMP has a majority of global investors, including seven sovereign wealth funds, and has exited portfolio companies by IPO in Asia and North America, as well as Australia.
The CHAMP Group has invested in some eighty companies across a broad range of industries, ranging from: education; health; media; services to the mining, oil and energy sectors; food and consumer products; beverages and retail. Its investments have covered the range from early stage investing, through growth and expansion investments, and now its majority work is in management buyouts and control investments. These have also included a number of privatisations from listed companies to privately owned.
Mr Skrzynski has recently retired as the Chair of SBS TV & Radio, and previously chaired the Sydney Opera House Trust, the Australian Film & Television School, the Broadcast Council, and was the Chief Executive of the Australian Film Commission in the early eighties. He is a Director of the United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney.
Mr Skrzynski is active in the philanthropic world, especially in social capital venture investing, and is an Officer of the Order of Australia.
