Lance Hockridge, Managing Director & CEO , QR National, 10 October 2011


Lance Hockridge addressed a private boardroom event for 20 senior business executives where he discussed “Unleashing the next wave of productivity: what rail can do for the Australian economy”. This private boardroom lunch was proudly sponsored by Rothschild Australia and UGL.

Lance Hockridge became Managing Director & CEO of QR National after its structural separation from QR Limited in July 2010. Lance has more than 30 years experience in transportation and heavy industrial sectors within Australia and the United States with BHP and BlueScope Steel. Lance has led a transformation program aimed at delivering world-class safety, customer service excellence and superior commercial capability.

QR National was separated from the government-owned passenger and rail operations of Queensland Rail in preparation for privatisation by way of an initial public offer (IPO) and listing on the Australian Securities Exchange in November 2010.

Lance played a leading role in QR National’s preparations for the IPO, overseeing structural separation and the company through the transition from government to private ownership.

QR National is Australia's largest rail freight company with more than 145 years of experience and services operating across five states. The company’s freight haulage operations span the east coast of Australia and west to Perth. QR National’s business is 80 per cent leveraged to the Australian resources sector with a significant focus on coal and mineral haulage in Queensland, New South Wales and Western Australia.
