John Brogden, Chief Executive Officer, Financial Services Council 27 September 2011

John Brogden
addressed a private boardroom lunch for 22 senior executives of our small & medium sized business members where he discussed - "2011 - The Year of the Reforms".

John Brogden is the CEO of the Financial Services Council, which represents Australia's retail and wholesale funds management businesses, superannuation funds, life insurers and financial advisory networks. The Council has over 130 members who are responsible for investing $1.8 trillion.

In August 2006 John was appointed CEO health insurer Manchester Unity, which he successfully merged with HCF in December 2008.

From 1996 to 2005 John was the Member for Pittwater in the NSW Parliament. In 2002 John was elected Leader of the Opposition - the youngest person ever to hold the role and lead a major political party in Australia.

John is a Director of Sydney Ports Corporation and Patron of Lifeline Australia and the Chairman of the Furlough House Retirement Village. John is also on the Advisory Committee for the Brain & Mind Research Institute.

The event was insightful and thought provoking as John and Chamber members discussed social issues around superannuation, retirement, in investment and more.
