David Epstein addressed a Boardroom event for 25 senior business executives where he discussed “Flying through Turbulence - Managing Public Affairs at Qantas”. This boardroom event was generously hosted by M&C Saatchi and Optus.
THERE ARE FEW BUSINESSES that require such heightened Government & Corporate Affairs TLC than the aviation business!
QANTAS has recently faced crises concerning the volcanic eruption disruption, technical problems during flights, fuel tax add-ons to ticket prices, potential mergers, reconfigured aircraft cabins…
DAVID EPSTEIN, who joined Qantas in December 2008 as Group Executive Government & Corporate Affairs (and is a member of the Qantas Group Executive Committee), is extremely well-qualified to pilot Qantas through these challenges.
David’s career includes work in government, as a corporate adviser, and in the telecommunications industry. Before joining Qantas, David was Chief of Staff to Australia’s Prime Minister, The Hon Kevin Rudd (2007 – 2008).
His background in Federal Government also includes staff positions with two Cabinet Ministers and six years as Federal Government Media Director during the Hawke and Keating Governments. In 1996, he joined the staff of the Leader of Opposition, The Hon Kim Beazley, as his Chief of Staff (1997 - 1999).
