Andrew Stevens, Managing Director, IBM Australia, 16 November 2011

Andrew Stevens addressed a private boardroom event for 20 senior business executives where he discussed “Smarter cities: prosperity through digital technology and social innovation”. This private boardroom lunch was proudly sponsored by Fairfax Media.

With demand for highly skilled, creative workers predicted to double by 2020 in mature economies, IBM Managing Director, Andrew Stevens, believes the answer is for NSW to build a talent-based economy - to become an important hub in the globally integrated services market.

To compete in this new economic environment, our towns and cities must be able to attract and enable these workers and the businesses who employ them.

Drawing on 2,000 smarter city projects around the world, Andrew will discuss how other cities are applying advanced information technology, analytics and systems thinking to better attract, create, enable and retain their citizens’ skills, knowledge and creativity."

Andrew Stevens is the Managing Director of IBM Australia and New Zealand.  Appointed to this role in January 2011, he manages a business with annual revenues of more than $4 Billion.
