The AICC in Brisbane were honored to present Stuart Robert MP, Shadow Minister for Defence Science, Technology and Personnel at an intimate boardroom lunch for 25 business executives on Wednesday 10 July 2013.

About Stuart Robert MP FAIM

Stuart was elected the Liberal Federal member for the northern Gold Coast seat of Fadden in the November 2007 and subsequently in August 2010 Federal elections. He is currently the Shadow Minister for Defence Science, Technology & Personnel having been the Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for Defence from December 2009 – August 2010.

Stuart is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management, has a Masters Degree in Information Technology, a Masters in Business Administration, an Honours degree in Arts (History and Politics) and a Graduate Diploma in Information Management.

Stuart sits on the Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Joint Standing Committees of Parliament.

Prior to entering Federal Parliament Stuart was the co-founder and Chairman of the Board of GMT Recruitment, a national recruiting firm that was named the 74th fastest growing small to medium company in the nation in both the 2006 and 2007 BRW Fast 100. Stuart was a regional finalist in the 2007 Australian Institute of Management (AIM) Owner Manager of the Year awards.

Prior to starting GMT Recruitment, Stuart was a graduate of the Australian Defence Force Academy and a top ten graduate of the Royal Military College Duntroon subsequently serving as an Officer in the Army. During this time he served in command roles with the Parachute Battalion (3 RAR), Recon and Surveillance (51 FNQR) in the North based out of Thursday Island and Counter Intelligence and Security (1 Div Int Coy and DSEC-A). Stuart also saw operation service oversees with the force protection element of the Peace Monitoring Force following the Civil War on the PNG island of Bougainville. Stuart’s final posting was as an instructor at the Defence Intelligence Training Centre in 1999. Stuart was awarded the Australian Service Medal (Bougainville Clasp) and the Australia Defence Medal.

Stuart is active in his community having served on the Finance Board of the Gold Coast City Council, in leadership of his local Church and is a founder and Director of Watoto Child Care – Australia and is the Secretary of the Watoto International Board. Watoto seeks to address the crisis of over 2 million orphans in the African Country of Uganda, the highest number of any orphans per capita in the world. Watoto in Uganda is currently caring for over 1800 orphaned children and babies and is one of the world’s largest non-institutional orphan care programs.
